The price of hotel rooms in the general Chicago area vary broadly, and if you’re not set on staying in the heart of “downtown Chicago,” uptown and surrounding areas yield more than 100 hotels for $75 or less per night. Many of these are chain hotels and are rated at 2 stars. They’re clean, comfortable and most have Internet connection, pools, and laundry facilities.
For visitors simply wanting a place to hang their hat while seeing the sites in Chicago, these hotels are a thrifty way to save money but you will need transportation, maps, and schedules to get around the city.
If you choose to visit Chicago for site seeing in the metropolitan area, I found three downtown Chicago hotels that come with high recommendations and 3 star ratings that won’t cost more than you want to pay. The dates I plugged in for these hotels were near the end of June, which is the beginning of the peak summer season for many hotels.
